Does Your Self-Care Routine Need a Boost?

One thing I have learned throughout years of coaching is that everyone is different. What appeals to one person, is loathesome to another. I find it challenging to suggest specific self-care practices for this very reason, which is why I put this list together. These are practices that come from my personal experience as well as from my clients’ experiences. My hope is that you find something on the list that resonates with you. Jump right in!

  • breathwork (my 4-4-4 exercise is my favorite)

  • stretch

  • walk

  • be outside in nature

  • make yourself a smoothie, salad, nutritious dish

  • eat a piece of fruit

  • eat without the TV on

  • light a candle while cooking/eating

  • play music while cooking/eating

  • turn off devices an hour before bed

  • sleep when you are tired

  • take a hot bath/shower

  • add essential oils to a diffuser in the room you work, your bedroom, kitchen

  • use your commute to listen to something that makes you happy (music, podcast, audiobook, comedian)

  • book a spa service (facial, massage, mani-pedi)

  • try a new healthy recipe (from Feeding Your Life, of course!)

  • drink a fresh-pressed juice

  • upgrade one of your beauty supplies

  • upgrade your morning beverage

  • drink a glass of lemon water upon waking (this is a game changer!)

  • spend time with pets

  • watch a movie that makes you laugh

  • watch a movie that makes you cry

  • eat something green

  • get outside and walk on your lunch break

  • upon waking, think of 3 specific things that you are grateful for from the day before

  • take a nap

  • clean out your car (purse, junk drawer, closet)

  • touch (or hug) a tree and breathe consciously for several seconds

  • add epsom salts and essential oils to a hot bath

  • read yourself to sleep

  • add a salt lamp to your bedroom

  • dry bristle brush your body before the shower

  • do something creative (paint, color, doodle, craft, scrapbook)

  • call a friend

  • exercise

  • be in the sun

  • meditate/pray

  • be barefoot on the earth

  • hug (a friend, a tree, a pet, a teddy bear!)
