I graduated with a BA from College of the Holy Cross, and completed my MA from Middlebury College. I received my training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, an affiliate of Columbia University's Teacher's College. IIN is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories - combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods - as well as practical lifestyle coaching methods. I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.
As a child, I had always wanted to be a "health nut," but never knew where to start. I spent most of my life struggling with weight and body image issues. After trying just about every diet in creation, and ultimately failing at the end of each one, I thought that being fat was my life sentence. Thankfully, I found that just the opposite was true: that having what I had always desired - healthy weight, high energy, clear skin, a passionate life - was my birthright. In the end, I came to two big conclusions: 1) that weight issues are not only about food, and 2) that being healthy is more important that just being thin. Now, my mission is to serve people who are struggling with weight like I did and to guide them toward the life they have always wanted for themselves. I counsel both individuals and groups, and give monthly cooking classes and workshops on nutrition, weight loss and healthy lifestyle.
